Targeting pathway may reduce cocaine's cardiovascular harms

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J Cocaine in mice increased levels of reactive oxygen species, molecules known to cause cardiovascular disease. Cocaine acts through microRNA (miR)-30c-5p, which leads to excess level of reactive oxygen species. Preventing activation of miR-30c-5p suppressed cocaine's harmful effects to the cardiovascular system, suggesting a potential treatment for cocaine-related cardiovascular disease.
